Although the Enlightened stands above the Good and Evil,
He constantly transforms the Evil into Good.
Born in Mostar on the Day of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Makaja (with worldly name Franjo Milicevic) remains, to begin with, true to the centuries old tradition of his Herzegovinian family which excelled both socially and spiritually, and studied law in Zagreb, his second home town. His burning desire to understand what lies beyond this world, and the reason and sense in everything that exists, lead him however to his second, real study - the study of life. He became well-versed in the spiritual systems of the Far East, such as Yoga, Tantra and Vedanta, which enlivened and broadened his Christian background. With discipline and as an ascetic he carried out practical exercises in these systems over many years and also developed his own methods from them.
However, following on from the tradition of his forefathers to a certain extent, Makaja became engaged in various spiritual organisations apart from working on himself: first of all as a secretary of the Yoga Centre in Zagreb, then as a co-founder of the first society for Transcendental Meditation in former Yugoslavia and then finally as a member of the international Theosophical Society (with its headquarters in Adyar, Madras/India) to form his own lodge, the circle Kundalini. As Makaja was already teaching his own spiritual methods from his own spiritual experiences at that time, despite the theosophical environment, the foundation day of the Kundalini circle, October 7, 1978 is held as the birthday of Komaja. Since his engagement was restricted by the leadership of the Theosophical Society, he soon decided to found the Ananda Yoga Society of Yugoslavia. Due to the political situation at that time, the society was never given permission to work. After these experiences, as from 1981 he withdrew from public life and continued his work in spontaneous and unorganised form among his circle of friends. This circle continued to grow and soon took on the form of a consolidated group of approximately 150-200 people, mainly students from the capitals of former Yugoslavia (Zagreb, Belgrade, Ljubljana). Up until now some thousands of people have attended Makaja's courses and lectures.
From 1984 his activity spreads to Switzerland and Germany. In 1987 he became recognised as a teacher of meditation and since then he has been running the Komaja Meditation School. In 1988 the Komaja - Society for Health and Knowledge was founded in Germany. Shortly afterwards in 1990, Komaja also appeared in the town where Makaja spent his childhood and youth, in Zagreb, as Society for the Development of Love and Consciousness. In 1992 the first Komaja Centre was inaugurated in Australia in the Blue Mountains near Sydney. In 1994 the Komaja - Foundation for the Development of Physical and Spiritual Health by Means of the Komaja Meditation Methods is brought into life. At the end of the same year the Macedonian Komaja - Society for the Development of the Art of Living is constituted in Skopje. In 1995 the foundation assembly of the German Komaja - Foundation for the Development of Physical and Spiritual Health by Means of the Komaja Meditation Methods takes place. Apart from these spiritual activities and in consideration of the war in the area of former Yugoslavia, Makaja and his students form the humanitarian organisation Komaja's Star in Germany, which had since the beginning of the war collected and accompanied medical and other first-aid shipments to the total value of approx. 2.5 million DM to hospitals, schools, organisations for the disabled etc. in the war zones.
Since 1998 Makaja's activity spreads to Great Britain, where he holds several courses and public lectures.
His great reputation is contributed also by "Love-erotic therapy" for liberation from drug addictions. In 1999, he has been invited to the simposium "Youth and drugs" organised by University of Zagreb, after which his lecture has been published in the abstracts book of the University as one of the selected works.
In the beginning of 2001 Komaja Society in Macedonia got moral and financial support of the Government's agency for youth and sport and from non-govermental Institute for sustainable communities (under sponsorship of USAID, United States Agency for International Development) for Love-erotic therapy.
In the spring of 2001 Makaja holds his first public lecture at University of Massachussets, and after that also first course of spiritual schooling of komaja for american students. The originator, driving force and inspiration behind Makaja's intensive engagement in bringing the spirit and life nearer to man, however, are his strong inner changes, the processes of his spiritual biography: After one and a half years of spiritual practice, Makaja experienced his first great enlightenment when he was 21 years old. Soon after this first conscious contact with the Supreme Consciousness, he undertook Brahmacharya for one year, whereby a whole series of "explosions" of consciousness in his soul and body took place. When he was 28 years old, after he had been "schooled" on spiritual levels with several spiritual masters of world-wide renown, Makaja experienced a great spiritual transformation and elevation - Makaja met with Christ. Makaja recognised Christ's universal love for all life as the most mighty power of the universe and took on many significant planetary-spiritual tasks. At the age of 33, Makaja very intensively experiences the suffering and death of Christ and is born anew - in direct unity, being one with God:
"It is very well possible, that that what I feel so intensely is only the dust from His feet. And it is possible that God is a person and that that what I perceive is only the aura of this person. But, even if it is this, and I do not believe it is, it is impossible that I will miss Him (the person of God), because I no longer move in any other way but in that where I meet Him...
If I bind myself in my heart to Him whom I think is God, then the body and soul are completely renewed. My head then becomes clear, and I can work for days and nights. If I am bound thus to God, I then love every living being I meet on my way. Yes, there is a saying, 'If Buddha is watching, they are all Buddhas and if the unenlightened is watching, no one is Buddha.' When I am in this state I only see Godliness in everyone - I cannot regard them in any other way. This gives me immeasurable joy in living and I cannot become angry or really sad, as this God in me gives me all that human beings cannot give me. This God gives me intelligence, love, power, will, He gives me LIFE. He enables me to see the human soul, so that I see what people think and feel. And not only do I see that, it flows through me...
And therefore, since God in me gives me everything that I have mentioned, and since I see that this God also gives men everything they have, and since I notice when I meet mighty spiritual beings, that they are divine and so powerfully mighty due to this very unity with the same God, I therefore surrender myself to Him completely.
He is God without name and without form and at the same time it appears to me as if all forms are forms of Him and that all names stand only for His forms. Therefore my only thought, my only desire, is to dedicate myself to Him and be one with Him."
